KARACHI: Student enrolment at The Citizens Foundation (TCF) has increased to 343,000 for the academic year 2025-26, a rise from 320,000 the previous year, as the organization continues to expand its educational network across Pakistan.
According to The Citizens Foundation, TCF operates 2,342 school units nationwide, supported by a teaching workforce of 17,500 women. Since its establishment in 1995, TCF has seen 79,400 students graduate from its schools. The impact of TCF's work is reflected in the achievements of graduates such as Kulsoom Afzal from Lasbela, Balochistan, and Mohammad Owais Khan from Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Kulsoom, who returned to education in Grade 5, achieved the highest marks in her district's Intermediate examinations and has become one of Lasbela's first female civil engineers. She is currently pursuing a master's degree at NED University. Meanwhile, Mohammad, with scholarship support from TCF, is studying Computer Science at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and has founded Xora Solutions, an IT company that provides employment in his hometown.
TCF President and CEO Zia Akhter Abbas emphasized that the organization's success should be measured not just by enrolment numbers but by the achievements of its graduates. He stated, "Enrolment tells us how many children we reach. What matters just as much is what they go on to do with that education. We want our students to keep learning, make informed choices, support themselves and their families, and contribute positively to their communities."
Beyond formal schooling, TCF's Aagahi Adult Literacy Programme has reached 337,000 learners, primarily women who missed earlier educational opportunities. Founded in 1995 by a group of citizens, TCF focuses on underserved rural and urban communities, with girls constituting nearly half of its student body. As it enters its 31st year, the organization remains committed to expanding educational access and fostering opportunities for individuals to positively impact their families and communities through education.
