Mitchell Starc Reclaims Top Spot in ICC Test Bowling Rankings

Cape Town: Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has reclaimed his position as the world's No.1 bowler in the ICC Men's Test Bowling Rankings, surpassing South Africa's Marco Jansen. Starc's nine-wicket match haul in the final ICC World Test Championship match against South Africa in Cape Town was pivotal in his ascent to the top.

According to International Cricket Council, Starc's performance in Cape Town allowed him to overtake Jansen, who had previously claimed the No.1 position following his six-wicket haul in the second Test at Gqeberha. Jansen's three wickets in the Cape Town fixture were insufficient to maintain his lead, allowing Starc to regain the top ranking.

South African spinner Simon Harmer also made significant progress, rising to seventh in the Test bowlers' rankings after his Player of the Match performance at Newlands. Meanwhile, Jansen remains on top of the all-rounders' list, achieving a career-high rating after his half-century in the third Test. Teammates Wiaan Mulder and Harmer also advanced in the all-rounders' rankings.

In the Test batters' rankings, Australian Cameron Green and Alex Carey both moved to 19th, while West Indies' Justin Greaves made significant gains following his team's victory over Bangladesh. In ODI rankings, Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf made notable advancements among bowlers, with Fakhar Zaman moving up among batters.

The T20I rankings saw movement as well, with India's Shreyas Iyer climbing to seventh for batters and New Zealand's Glenn Phillips and teammates making strides in various categories. Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai also rose in the T20I all-rounders' rankings following his standout performance against Zimbabwe.
