Lahore: A session focused on "Internationalisation and Development of Universities" was held at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, in partnership with Higher Education Advocacy and Development (HEAD). The event featured Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir as the keynote speaker.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, the gathering was attended by a diverse group of individuals, including Chairman HEAD Naeem Masood, former Federal Minister Syed Javed Ali Shah, and Secretary Punjab Revenue Board Shafqat Ullah Mushtaq, among others. The session brought together researchers, faculty members, bureaucrats, political and social figures, media representatives, and civil society members.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir addressed the audience on the critical role of international recognition and collaboration in the advancement of higher education institutions. He emphasized that universities must go beyond traditional academic pursuits by establishing linkages with international universities, research institutions, and industries. Sharing insights from his visits to Germany, China, and Kathmandu, he stressed the importance of aligning Pakistani universities with global standards to enhance opportunities for academic and research collaborations.

Naeem Masood, Chairman of HEAD, highlighted the significance of policy advocacy and sustainable growth within the higher education sector. He underscored the need for strategic policies to ensure academic quality, research excellence, and institutional stability. Masood also called for effective coordination among stakeholders to drive the development of higher education.

The session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, where participants engaged in discussions on internationalization, policy formulation, and the challenges faced by universities. The speakers addressed queries raised by the attendees, providing insights and perspectives on the topics discussed.
