Nisshin: Sri Lanka and India have advanced to the semi-finals of the women's cricket competition at the Asian Games, achieving decisive victories against Malaysia and Japan, respectively. Their wins place them alongside Bangladesh and Pakistan in the tournament's last four.

According to International Cricket Council: Sri Lanka defeated Malaysia by 86 runs, showcasing a strong performance with both bat and ball. Chamari Athapaththu led the charge, scoring 63 from 37 balls, while Kavisha Dilhari added an unbeaten 44. Their efforts contributed to a total of 160/4. In response, Malaysia was unable to mount a significant challenge, losing three wickets early and eventually being restricted to a much lower total. Dilhari and Athapaththu also shone with the ball, taking two wickets each, ensuring Sri Lanka's dominance throughout the match.

On the other hand, India secured their semi-final berth with an eight-wicket triumph over host nation Japan. After electing to field first, India restricted Japan to 57 runs, thanks to a standout performance by Sree Charani, who took 4 for 10. India's chase was swift, with Shafali Verma scoring an unbeaten 40 from 15 balls, leading India to surpass the target in under five overs. This victory sets up India's semi-final clash against Bangladesh.
