LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has announced plans to offer training and consultancy services to universities across Lahore for the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). The initiative was disclosed during a meeting of Vice Chancellors from Lahore-based universities, chaired by Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar at Garrison University Lahore.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, UET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir highlighted the university's capacity to provide training on OBE implementation, curriculum development, and assessment systems. He offered consultancy services to aid universities in effectively adopting OBE practices. Munir emphasized the importance of expanding university cooperation to include practical collaboration in faculty development and student engagement.

Munir proposed an inter-university internship program, suggesting that students gain exposure to various academic and research environments during summer vacations. He also suggested organizing an International Students' Convention in collaboration with Lahore universities, potentially under the patronage of the HEC Chairman, with UET Lahore ready to host the event.

HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar outlined new initiatives by the Higher Education Commission, stressing the importance of aligning curricula with emerging needs and integrating Artificial Intelligence into education. The meeting considered ways to enhance collaboration among Lahore's universities, create joint opportunities for students and faculty, and align Pakistan's higher education with international standards.

Participants agreed to develop practical mechanisms for academic, research, and professional cooperation among universities in Lahore.
