Rashid Khan Strengthens Lead in ICC ODI Bowling Rankings

Abu Dhabi: Experienced Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has solidified his standing as the premier white-ball bowler in the world, extending his lead at the top of the ICC Men's ODI Bowling Rankings.

According to International Cricket Council, Rashid, already ranked No.1 on both the ODI and T20I charts, further distanced himself from his competitors following his impressive four-wicket performance against Zimbabwe in Afghanistan's ongoing tri-series in the UAE, which also features Bangladesh. Rashid secured four crucial wickets, finishing with figures of 4/17 from eight overs, boosting his rating from 714 to 742 points, and establishing an 80-point lead over Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed and South Africa's Keshav Maharaj.

The latest rankings update is promising for Afghanistan, especially with the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup on the horizon, set to be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia in late 2027. In addition to Rashid's achievements, Afghanistan's young star Sediqullah Atal climbed the ODI batter rankings from 32nd to 20th following his century against Zimbabwe, contributing to Afghanistan's 158-run victory in Abu Dhabi.

Elsewhere, Pakistan's Salman Agha moved up to 12th, and England's Ben Duckett rose to 13th in the batter rankings. The bowler rankings saw movement with Bangladesh's Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, and Pakistan's Haris Rauf all making gains.

In the T20I rankings, West Indies players made significant strides after a recent series against India. Shai Hope advanced to ninth among T20I batters, while Sherfane Rutherford and Gudakesh Motie also improved their standings.
