Faisalabad: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Faisalabad Campus has made significant strides in its environmental conservation efforts by inaugurating Urban Forest Site-6, contributing to the planting of over 40,000 trees in the past three and a half years. This initiative is part of the campus's ongoing commitment to creating a Green Campus. The inauguration was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, who actively participated in the plantation drive.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir highlighted the importance of universities in environmental protection and sustainable development, asserting that educational institutions have responsibilities beyond teaching and research. He emphasized that creating a green and healthy environment positively impacts both students and faculty.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin, Campus Coordinator, informed the Vice Chancellor that more than 40,000 trees have been planted with the support of various organizations over the past three and a half years, with 23,000 trees planted in the last two years alone. He outlined the campus's focus on developing urban forests and expanding green spaces to enhance the educational environment.

The Vice Chancellor acknowledged the efforts of the Faisalabad Campus administration, faculty, students, and partnering organizations in supporting the plantation initiatives. He reiterated that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and that universities play a crucial role in fostering awareness and promoting environmentally responsible practices within society. Prof. Dr. Munir expressed his commitment to further expanding Green Campus initiatives to ensure a sustainable environment for future generations.
