Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has inaugurated a new Model Classroom in its Mechanical Engineering Department, a project realized with financial backing from Engr. Sohail Bashir Rana, Vice Chairman of Millat Tractors Limited and Director at Hyundai Nishat Group. This development marks a significant enhancement in the university's educational resources.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir officiated the opening of the facility, highlighting the pivotal role that the alumni community plays in the university's advancement. He stressed the commitment of UET to equip its talented students and faculty with state-of-the-art learning environments, supported by government funding, university resources, and alumni contributions. The inauguration was attended by notable alumni, including Engr. Muhammad Abad Khan and Engr. Abid Wazir Khan, along with university officials.
Engr. Ahmad Naveed, Director of the Alumni Office, detailed the alumni-supported initiatives and commended Engr. Sohail Bashir Rana for his instrumental role in the classroom's transformation. During the event, further pledges were made by alumni for classroom renovations, including commitments from Engr. Muhammad Abad Khan and Engr. Sohail Bashir Rana, as well as plans for a new Seminar Hall. The ceremony ended with Engr. Rana receiving a commemorative shield for his contributions.
