Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore commemorated Pakistan's 79th Independence Day with a ceremony that emphasized the importance of knowledge, research, and innovation for the country's future. The event, held at the UET Auditorium Complex, saw participation from students, faculty, and other university community members.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, UET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir highlighted the necessity of building Pakistan's future on a foundation of knowledge, research, artificial intelligence, and technological advancement. Addressing the attendees, he congratulated the nation on its Independence Day and underscored that true gratitude for the blessing of freedom lies in utilizing abilities and resources for national development and stability.

Prof. Dr. Munir reminded attendees of the sacrifices made for Pakistan's creation, emphasizing that Independence Day is both a celebration and a reminder of national responsibilities. He called for hard work, honesty, and unity to transform Pakistan into a strong and developed country. The Vice Chancellor stressed the significance of excelling in knowledge and technology, particularly in areas like artificial intelligence, robotics, and data science.

Highlighting the role of youth, Prof. Dr. Munir described them as Pakistan’s most valuable asset and advocated for providing them with research opportunities to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. He also emphasized the key role universities play in addressing economic, industrial, and social challenges through research aligned with industry needs.

The Independence Day celebration included national songs performed by children and students, which were warmly received. The ceremony concluded with a special prayer for Pakistan's prosperity and the cutting of an Independence Day cake. Participants expressed their patriotism by raising the national flag and pledging to contribute to the nation's development.

Prof. Dr. Munir urged collaboration among the government, universities, industry, and research institutions to harness the potential of young people, aiming for Pakistan to attain a respected position globally through knowledge and innovation. The event concluded with prayers and chants of "Pakistan Zindabad."
