KARACHI: The School of Visual & Performing Arts (SOVAPA) at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi presented its fifth Alumni Series production, the classical play "Naql-e-Makani", at Studio II. Written by Rajinder Singh Bedi, the play was met with enthusiasm from audiences, who praised the narrative and the performances. Directed by Farhan Ahsan with Aayan Aamir as Assistant Director, the lead roles were performed by Alaiza Javed and Adil Shakir, supported by a strong cast.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the play, performed in Urdu and lasting 60 minutes, is set in 1945 Delhi and tells the story of a middle-class family whose newfound security in a home is threatened by its past association with a woman of ill repute. This discovery, along with the arrival of an intoxicated stranger, forces the family to reconsider their place in society. The narrative explores themes of societal prejudice and the impact of public perception on personal dignity and security. The production was well-received, with audiences commending the sensitivity and artistry of the performance, marking it as a notable addition to the SOVAPA Alumni Series.
