Sohbatpur’s Voter Registration Stands Below National Average Despite High Local Engagement

Sohbatpur: The voter registration rate in Sohbatpur is 48% of the district's estimated population for 2025, which is below the national average of 54%. According to Free and Fair Election Network, the data is based on district-wise electoral roll statistics released by the Election Commission of Pakistan on December 30, 2025, and population estimates derived from the 2023 Digital Census.

The district has 123,562 registered voters, consisting of 63,238 males and 60,324 females. The registration rate for males and females is 49% and 48%, respectively. Sohbatpur ranks 124th out of 136 districts by population size and is part of a National Assembly constituency shared across four districts. By voter registration rate, Sohbatpur is ranked 91st nationally and 3rd among 34 districts in Balochistan.

The voter registration rate in Sohbatpur reflects conditions common across Balochistan, such as geographic distances between settlements and registration facilities, and low population density. These factors make sustained outreach by the Election Commission of Pakistan challenging. Additionally, nomadic and semi-nomadic communities, which may have their permanent CNIC registration elsewhere or not be registered at all, contribute to the reduced voter-to-population ratio.

Female voters make up 48.8% of the registered electorate, indicating a narrow gender gap of 2.4%. Targeted registration outreach for women in Sohbatpur is suggested to be a priority before the next general elections.
