LUMS and Pakistan Single Window Sign MoU to Enhance Trade Facilitation Ecosystem

LAHORE: The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Pakistan Single Window (PSW) have formalized a partnership to bolster Pakistan's trade facilitation through capacity building, executive education, and research initiatives. This collaboration aims to enhance the knowledge and skills necessary for modernizing the country's trade and customs landscape.

According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the PSW Head Office in Islamabad by Aftab Haider, CEO of Pakistan Single Window, and Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Provost of LUMS. The event was attended by senior officials from both institutions, including Dr. Muhammad Adeel Zaffar, Dean of the Suleman Dawood School of Business, and Dr. Syed Muhammad Hasan, Associate Professor of Economics. The partnership will support capacity-building initiatives under the Federal Board of Revenue's (FBR) Postgraduate Diploma Program for Probationary Assistant Collectors of Customs, emphasizing areas such as cross-border trade, digital trade facilitation, and logistics.

The agreement outlines joint efforts to design and deliver executive education programs, technical trainings, and professional development activities. Additionally, it promotes participation in conferences, workshops, and other events to encourage knowledge sharing and institutional collaboration.

The MoU also establishes a framework for developing joint research projects, policy papers, and analytical studies on topics related to digital trade and trade facilitation. These efforts aim to contribute to academic research, support evidence-based policymaking, and provide insights for stakeholders involved in Pakistan's trade ecosystem.

Dr. Tariq Jadoon emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating that it integrates academic excellence with practical expertise to address national priorities. Aftab Haider reiterated PSW's commitment to fostering innovation and developing future leaders in customs and trade facilitation.

The partnership reflects the joint dedication of LUMS and PSW to advancing professional excellence, promoting research-driven policymaking, and supporting the modernization of Pakistan's cross-border trade environment.
