Khushab’s Voter Registration Rate Surpasses National Average by Eight Points

Khushab: A remarkable 62% of Khushab's estimated 2025 population is registered to vote, a figure that surpasses the national registration ratio by eight percentage points. The district's voter registration rate is driven by a unique set of demographic factors and methodologies, placing it significantly above the national average of 54%.

According to Free and Fair Election Network, these statistics are derived from district-wise electoral roll data released by the Election Commission of Pakistan on December 30, 2025, and are cross-referenced with population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census. The population estimate for 2025, based on a 2.69% annual growth rate applied to Khushab's 2023 census population of 1,501,089, stands at 1,582,934. The voter registration figures show 988,739 registered voters in Khushab, comprising 509,307 males and 479,432 females.

Khushab ranks 64th out of 136 districts nationwide by population size and 12th by voter registration rate, with 8th place among Punjab's 36 districts. The district's registration rate is influenced by rules from the 2023 Digital Census, which did not enumerate household members absent for over six months at their original addresses, instead recording them at their current locations. This has resulted in a smaller population denominator compared to the registered voter count.

The district has a narrow gender gap in voter registration, with female voters representing 48.5% of the electorate. Despite the strong overall registration rate, ongoing efforts to ensure equitable female voter registration remain crucial. Khushab is represented in the National Assembly by two members, reflecting its significant electoral participation.
