University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Hosts Meeting on Agro-Livestock Tourism Hub

Lahore: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore held a consultative meeting to discuss the development of the Agro-Livestock Tourism Hub at Ravi Campus Pattoki. The meeting, attended by stakeholders from both public and private sectors, focused on gathering insights and suggestions to ensure the project’s success.

According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the meeting was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani. He emphasized the educational and recreational benefits of the resort, which is designed to attract students, researchers, and families interested in poultry, dairy, livestock, fisheries, and wildlife management. The hub aims to provide visitors with an understanding of the farm-to-fork food processing chain, alongside activities such as traditional food outlets, camel cart and horse riding, and handicrafts.

The meeting saw contributions from various experts including Poultry Expert Dr. Hanif Nazir Chauhdary, Ex-Director General Extension Livestock Punjab Dr. Asif Salman Sahi, and others. Dr. Hanif Nazir Chaudhry highlighted existing facilities at the campus and pledged support to make the project a success. Khalid Mahmood Shouq proposed creating an Agro-Livestock Tourism Club to celebrate agricultural activities, while Tariq Tanveer stressed the importance of a robust master plan. Dr. Mahmood Qureshi suggested promoting the hub through various media channels.

The project aligns with the Government of Punjab’s vision to promote tourism. Vice-Chancellor Rabbani also met with Secretary Livestock Punjab Ahmad Aziz Tarar, who expressed support for UVAS initiatives and suggested improvements for the livestock and poultry sectors.
