Punjab University Hosts Traditional ‘Basant Festival’ with Cultural Flair

LAHORE: Punjab University College of Art and Design (CAD) organized a 'Basant Festival' on Friday, showcasing a celebration of traditional culture and student creativity. The event featured an art exhibition, traditional dances, and kite flying, attended by PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Secretary Higher Education Department Ghulam Farid, and Principal CAD Dr Samina Naseem, along with faculty members and students.

According to University of the Punjab, the festival highlighted the social and cultural significance of Basant, with students decorating the college corridors and rooftop with their artwork and colorful kites. The event aimed to blend art, culture, and tradition through student participation. Prof Dr Muhammad Ali praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for enabling the peaceful celebration of Basant, describing her as a "new ray of hope" for the youth of Punjab. Participants also engaged in kite flying, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of the festival.
