Karachi: On the seventh day of the ongoing "Awami Theatre Festival 2026," organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the Punjabi stage play "Rab Diya Rehmatan" was staged, garnering an enthusiastic response from the audience. The play, written by Azmat Ali and directed by Shameer Rahi, featured a cast including Bobi Kamal, Faiza Malik, Irma Ahmed, Kamal Idrees, Muhammad Shahzad, Nadeem Malik, Nasara Noor, Sajjad Bhatt, Sapna Ghazal, and Shar Ghazal.
According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the play explores themes of familial relationships and societal attitudes towards daughters and sons. The narrative follows Chaudhry, a father who initially harbors intense disdain for daughters, considering only sons as rightful heirs. His perspective is challenged as the story unfolds, revealing the consequences of his bias. The play's central message emphasizes that daughters are a mercy from Allah, while sons, considered blessings, are accountable. The drama prompts reflection on contemporary social issues, particularly the tendency of children to prioritize wealth over familial bonds.
