London: England's cricket team is gearing up for an away ODI series against Australia, following a challenging performance in the recent ODI Tri-Series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, where they managed only one win in four matches. With the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup approaching in less than a year, England's captain is focusing on fitness as a key element to enhance the team's competitive edge.
According to International Cricket Council, captain Brook expressed that while results have been disappointing, the emphasis on off-field preparation remains crucial. "Obviously, whether you win or lose isn't always there. You can never guarantee that, but off the field... you can guarantee the off-field preparation can be a lot better," Brook stated, emphasizing the importance of fitness and preparation in the lead-up to the World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Brook highlighted the significance of becoming one of the fittest and strongest sides globally to dominate the upcoming World Cup. He also provided updates on squad members Adil Rashid and Jacob Bethell, who might return to strengthen the team. Rashid, who played only one ODI in the recent tri-series, might see more action as conditions evolve. Meanwhile, Bethell is recovering from a knee injury sustained against India and could be a vital asset moving forward.
The England team will face Australia in a series of matches scheduled for November, with the first ODI in Perth, followed by games in Adelaide and Hobart.
