Lahore: The Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, met with Mr. Faheem ur Rehman Saigol, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), to discuss enhancing collaboration in education, industry, and economic development.
The meeting focused on strengthening industry-academia linkages, emphasizing research and development, technology transfer, and innovation. Both leaders highlighted the importance of promoting the startup ecosystem and creating opportunities for student internships and employment.
Prof. Dr. Munir underscored the necessity of collaboration between industry and academic institutions for national development and preparing a skilled workforce. He reiterated UET Lahore’s commitment to working closely with industry to convert research into practical applications.
Mr. Saigol praised UET Lahore’s contributions to academia and technology, noting the industry’s need for engineers and researchers who meet modern demands. He pledged full cooperation in launching joint research projects and training programs with UET Lahore.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to form joint working groups and special programs that connect students with practical industry experience. This initiative aims to steer research towards commercialization effectively.
Prof. Dr. Munir extended an invitation to Mr. Saigol to visit UET Lahore, which Mr. Saigol accepted. In appreciation, the President of the Lahore Chamber presented a commemorative shield to the Vice Chancellor.
The meeting was attended by UET Lahore representatives, Dr. Tanveer Qasim and Dr. Usman Shafiq, along with other officials from both institutions, who expressed their commitment to ongoing collaboration.
