Lahore: Professor Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, met with Faheem ur Rehman Sehgal, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), at the chamber’s office to discuss advancing education and industry collaboration. The meeting focused on fostering stronger ties between academia and industry to promote research, innovation, and economic growth.
During the meeting, both leaders highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between the industrial sector and educational institutions. They emphasized the need for research and development, technology transfer, and the promotion of startups to create opportunities for students through internships and employment. Dr. Munir reiterated UET’s commitment to collaborating with industry for national development and economic strengthening.
Mr. Sehgal praised UET Lahore’s contributions to academic and technical fields and underscored the industry’s demand for engineers and researchers who meet current market requirements. He assured full cooperation with UET in launching joint research projects and training programs, aiming to align educational outcomes with industry needs.
The meeting resulted in a consensus to establish joint working groups and research initiatives to address industry challenges. Special programs will also be launched to connect students with practical field experiences, enhancing the commercialization of research outcomes.
The Vice Chancellor extended an invitation to Mr. Sehgal to visit UET Lahore, which was gladly accepted. Dr. Munir was presented with a commemorative shield by the Chamber, symbolizing the commitment to ongoing collaboration. UET spokesperson Dr. Tanveer Qasim and Dr. Usman Shafique were also in attendance, reaffirming the intention to strengthen mutual cooperation.
