Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari, in a message marking International Human Rights Day, has called for a renewed commitment to upholding dignity, equality, and justice for all individuals. In his statement, Zardari emphasized the importance of promoting and protecting human rights, echoing values enshrined in the Pakistani Constitution, which guarantees fundamental freedoms.

Zardari highlighted the constitutional commitment to freedom for every citizen, irrespective of caste, creed, or color, and reiterated the government’s dedication to safeguarding the rights and dignity of all citizens. He acknowledged the need to focus particularly on vulnerable and marginalized groups, asserting that the government is working to strengthen legal, economic, and social frameworks to protect these communities.

The President emphasized the importance of translating commitment into action, advocating for a culture of respect, tolerance, and mutual dignity. He underscored the necessity of empowering women, children, minorities, and persons with disabilities to participate fully in national life.

The President also urged government institutions, civil society, the media, non-governmental organizations, and citizens to play their roles in protecting and promoting human rights. He commended the United Nations for its global observance of International Human Rights Day.

Zardari concluded by inviting the nation to renew its pledge to defend human dignity and advance equality, aspiring for a Pakistan where every citizen lives free from fear, oppression, and discrimination.
