Karachi: In a thrilling display of young cricketing talent, the PCB Talent Hunt Programme for the School Championship in the Karachi region concluded with three decisive matches that showcased promising performances on the field.
The standout player of the day was Aaish Malik, whose exceptional all-round performance led Standard Secondary School to a commanding victory over Mumtaz Government Boys Secondary School. Malik’s impressive bowling figures of 4 for 14 were complemented by a solid innings of 42 runs, guiding his team to an 8-wicket win at the IBA Cricket Ground. Mumtaz Government Boys posted a total of 145 in 37 overs, with Amanullah contributing 51 runs. In response, Standard Secondary School reached the target comfortably, scoring 147/3 in 20.3 overs, with Muhammad Naveed also adding a crucial 51 runs.
In another encounter, Hira Foundation School claimed a 7-wicket win against Karachi Public School at the Darul Uloom Korangi ground. Karachi Public School struggled and were bowled out for a mere 65 in 16.3 overs, with Syed Muhammad Ayan being the only notable scorer with 36 runs. Hira Foundation School chased down the target with ease, reaching 66/3 in 11.3 overs, thanks to contributions from Jakwan Usmani and Fakhar Uddin.
Meanwhile, Oasis Secondary School delivered an emphatic performance against Al Haider Secondary School, securing a massive 149-run victory at the NED University Ground. Oasis Secondary set a formidable target of 249/9 in 40 overs, powered by Kaleemullah’s explosive 76 runs and vital innings by Uzair Khan and Syed Mehdi Rizvi. In response, Al Haider School was dismissed for just 100 runs, with Syed Mehdi Rizvi and Uzair Khan taking two wickets each to seal the win.
