Islamabad: President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) upon the Commander of the UAE Naval Forces, Staff Major General Humaid Abdulla Alremeithi, at a special investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.
During a subsequent meeting, President Zardari stated that the award recognized the Commander’s significant services and contributions. He noted that the visit by Major General Alremeithi underscored the strong ties between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, highlighting a shared commitment to cooperation across various sectors.
The President pointed to the robust defence and security partnership between both nations, expressing contentment with the UAE Navy’s involvement in the Aman Dialogue-25 and Exercise Aman-25. He commended the UAE Navy’s trust in the professional capabilities of the Pakistan Navy and affirmed Pakistan’s readiness to assist with the UAE Navy’s manpower needs in the future. He stressed the importance of further collaboration between the naval forces of the two countries.
President Zardari emphasized the exceptional and historical relations between Pakistan and the UAE, reinforced by strong people-to-people connections. He reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing these brotherly ties.
Commander Alremeithi shared with the President his longstanding relationship with Pakistan, noting his four-year stay in the country during his education at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi.
The ceremony was attended by Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Defence; Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, former Speaker of the National Assembly; Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, former Chairman of the Senate; and the Chief of the Naval Staff.
