Pakistan’s Higher Education Reform: NUST Engages with UK for Teaching Excellence Framework

Islamabad: Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz recently visited the United Kingdom as part of Pakistan’s inaugural Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) initiative. This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the British Council, aims to enhance the quality of higher education in Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Mumtaz engaged with five leading UK universities, including the University of Wolverhampton and King’s College London. Her visit focused on understanding the UK’s higher education quality frameworks and exploring practices to develop Pakistan’s own TEF model.

Interactions with faculty and academic leaders at these institutions provided insights into quality assurance and teaching evaluation. The initiative aims to improve undergraduate student learning outcomes and experiences in Pakistan.

The project is supported by UK education experts and institutions, including the Quality Assurance Agency and the Office for Students. Prof. Dr. Mumtaz’s involvement underscores Pakistan’s commitment to advancing its higher education sector through global collaboration.
