Lahore: The Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Lahore hosted its annual Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) dinner at a local hotel, bringing together industry leaders, faculty, and students in a celebration of veterinary education and entrepreneurship.
Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairperson of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, attended as the chief guest. He was joined by guests of honor, Member Provincial Assembly Chaudhry Zia Ur Rehman and Vice-Chancellor of the Agriculture University Faisalabad, Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali.
The event was attended by UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, faculty members, students, and industry representatives from sectors including pharmaceuticals, animal nutrition, dairy, poultry, and livestock.
The evening featured a variety of activities such as comedy poetry, cultural dance performances representing different regions, and presentations by industry representatives. These activities highlighted the vibrant culture and potential within the veterinary field.
In his address, Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan encouraged students to acquire professional skills in their field and consider entrepreneurship as a career path. He highlighted the importance of an expert workforce in genetic improvement and disease prevention to enhance Pakistan’s livestock sector. Prof Khan urged the alignment of the veterinary curriculum with modern needs and emphasized the sector’s role in the national economy. He also congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
Prof Dr Muhammad Younus echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for students to gain practical knowledge and skills. He encouraged them to contribute to veterinary education and the livestock sector’s development. Prof Younus underscored the importance of entrepreneurship, urging graduates to become job creators. He thanked the organizing committees and sponsors for their support in making the event successful.
The program concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation by Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus, and other dignitaries to the organizing committee members and sponsors, acknowledging their contributions to the event’s success.
