Islamabad: In a collaborative effort to foster cultural understanding, the Confucius Institute and the Pakistan Institute of China Studies at the University of Sargodha organized a study tour for 121 students to the Chinese Embassy’s “Tea for Harmony – YAJI Cultural Salon.” The event, held on May 22, 2025, marked the 74th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.
The tour was tailored for students enrolled in courses on “Pakistan China Relations” and “China’s Foreign Policy.” They were accompanied by four staff members from PICS and two faculty members from the Department of Political Science and International Relations. Upon arrival, the delegation received a warm welcome from Mr. Chen Peng, Cultural Counselor at the Chinese Embassy, and his team.
Participants were introduced to Chinese cultural traditions through presentations of Chinese teas, floral art displays, traditional dance performances, and classical music on the Guzheng. The exhibition also showcased traditional Chinese attire, Hanfu.
An educational segment featured a bookstall and a “history wall,” highlighting the historical ties between China and Pakistan. Students actively engaged in cultural exchanges, donning traditional Chinese clothing under the guidance of embassy staff.
The event concluded with a Hi-Tea hosted by Mr. Chen Peng, followed by a group photograph. Mr. Amin Athar, a lecturer at DPIR, expressed gratitude to the organizers for this enriching experience and emphasized the importance of cultural exchanges in enhancing mutual understanding and education.
