RAWALPINDI: In a compelling performance at the Regional Drama Festival, the stage drama “Balakada” highlighted the rights of transgender individuals, asserting their place in society and advocating for equality. The play, both written and directed by the esteemed artist Arshad Minhas, captivated audiences on the eleventh day of the festival, organized by the Punjab Arts Council.
The production featured a notable cast, including Arshad Minhas, Maryam, Mastana, Ali Janjua, Ali Sher, Adil Alvi, Hameedullah Khan, and Afzal Latifi. Their performances were met with significant acclaim from attendees, underscoring the artistic talent present on stage.
The event saw a diverse turnout, with families, civil officers, political figures, social activists, media representatives, and artists in attendance. Participants expressed gratitude towards the Provincial Minister for Information and Culture, Madam Azma Bukhari, for her role in fostering cultural activities that provide free entertainment to the residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The festival promises to continue its run until June 5, offering free entry to the public and an opportunity to engage with thought-provoking cultural works.
