Institute Wins Prestigious Engineering Technology Award at Summit

Lahore: The Institute of Energy and Environmental Engineering (IEEE), under the leadership of Director Prof. Dr. Hamed Sattar and Project Lead Dr. Syed Sheraz Daood, has been honored with the Technology Award in Engineering and Advanced Materials at the 10th Invention to Innovation Summit 2025. The summit, organized by ORIC-PU, recognized the Institute’s successful industrial collaboration, marking a significant milestone in the field of fuel additive-based technology.

The award highlights a groundbreaking project involving the full-scale commercial demonstration of innovative fuel additive technology on a bagasse-fired boiler. This achievement is noted as an industry-first in Pakistan, showcasing significant advances in industrial boiler efficiency, emission reductions, and sustainability.

The applied research conducted by the Institute has focused on developing novel agglomeration additives for sustainable combustion in power and utility plants. This development not only holds promise for local applications but also enhances export potential. The team, led by Dr. Daood and Prof. Sattar, plans to file a patent to protect and promote this innovation further.

A notable contribution to the project came from Mr. Kashif Saleem Butt, an MSc Energy and Environmental Engineering student and Chief Engineer at SNGPL. His involvement underscores the Institute’s commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry.

This accomplishment reflects the Institute’s mission to drive impactful research and foster strong industry-academia collaboration, while also cultivating professionals dedicated to sustainable development in the energy and environmental sectors.
