Lahore: Musrat Jamshed Cheema, a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), declared that the public overwhelmingly supported a rally on September 22, 2024, despite significant opposition from the current government.
According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Cheema articulated that the participation in the rally, called by PTI founder Imran Khan, demonstrated the people’s resolve against what he described as the worst forms of oppression and barriers imposed by a “fake government.” The event underscored the public’s unyielding pursuit of “real freedom,” a sentiment intensified by the alleged actions of Punjab government ministers who purportedly abandoned their official duties on September 21 to engage in a smear campaign intended to undermine the rally’s success.
Cheema highlighted the tactical moves made to derail the rally, including changing its location and limiting preparation time. Yet, the turnout reflected a steadfast public loyalty to Khan and a rejection of governmental intimidation tactics. The senior PTI leader criticized the ruling administration for their miscalculations and cautioned against underestimating the patience of the people, suggesting the government should reconsider its approach.
