Peshawar: The 1st Qamer Zaman Junior Boys U-15, 17 and Girls U-15 and 17 National Junior Squash Championship has advanced to the semifinals stage at Hashim Khan Squash Academy, marking a series of major upsets. The event showcased young talent from across the nation with athletes from various regions competing.
According to Pakistan Squash Federation, the quarterfinals witnessed several unexpected outcomes. In the Boys U-15 category, Ahmed Khalil of PAF dominated Abdullah Shah of PAF with a clean sweep of 3-0, featuring scores of 11-6, 11-2, and 11-4. Similarly, M Rayyan Bahadur from PAF defeated M Bin Atif of Punjab with straight sets 11-5, 11-9, and 11-6. Nouman Khan representing Army outclassed Abdul Hadi Gul of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3-0, while Abdul Ahad Butt from Sindh overcame Muhammad Shahzeb of PAF in a tight match ending in 13-11 in the final set.
In the Boys U-17 category, Azaan Ali Khan of Army triumphed over Muhammad Zubair from Punjab, securing a victory in straight sets. Mubeen Khan of PAF had a challenging match against Ibrahim Zeb of PAF, but ultimately won 3-2. Mustafa Irfan, also from PAF, defeated Muhammad Furqan in four sets, demonstrating resilience and skill. Lastly, Umair Arif of PAF beat Usman Tahir of Punjab with a score line of 3-0.
The championship continues to highlight the rising stars in the squash circuit, setting the stage for the upcoming semifinals where these young athletes will further compete for national honors.
