Colombo: Following stellar performances in the Women’s Asia Cup, cricketers from India and Sri Lanka have achieved new career highs in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings.
According to International Cricket Council, India’s Smriti Mandhana and Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu led the advances in the rankings after exceptional showings in the tournament. Mandhana, who top-scored in the final with 60 runs, moved up to fourth in the T20I batter rankings, while Athapaththu, named Player of the Tournament for her 304 runs at an average above 100, ascended to sixth.
Other significant movers included Pakistan’s Muneeba Ali, who rose six places to 35th, and Bangladesh’s Nigar Sultana, who climbed three spots to 14th. Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samarawickrama and Pakistan’s Gull Feroza also made notable gains in the rankings following their performances.
In bowling, Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal reached a career-best fourth place after taking eight wickets at an average of 8.37. India’s Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav saw substantial improvements, moving up to fifth and 13th respectively, bolstered by their Asia Cup efforts.
Additionally, Sri Lanka’s Kavisha Dilhari made significant strides in the T20I All-Rounder rankings, jumping 10 places to 17th after showcasing her skills with both bat and ball during the tournament.
