Lahore: The Civil Engineering Department at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, hosted an international seminar focused on advancing sustainable cement-less concrete technologies for future constructions in Pakistan.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, the event titled “Environmental Friendly Cement-less Concrete for Future Constructions in Pakistan: Geopolymer Concrete, A Sustainable Solution” was part of a Higher Education Commission-funded project under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Collaborative Research Grant. The seminar brought together leading experts from Australia and Pakistan who discussed the role of geopolymer concrete in tackling global warming and climate change issues. This sustainable construction material is seen as crucial for future building projects in the country.
Distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Nasir Hayat (Vice-Chancellor of UET Lahore), Prof. Dr. Zahid Ahmed Siddiqui (Chief Guest), and Prof. Dr. Khalid Farooq (Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering), highlighted the importance of these advancements. Dr. Qasim Shaukat Khan, the Principal Investigator, received special appreciation for his role in the seminar’s organization. The seminar concluded with Prof. Dr. Nasir Hayat distributing shields to the principal investigator, co-principal investigator, and presenters, celebrating their contributions to this innovative field.
