Islamabad: At a press conference in Peshawar, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized the party’s commitment to fostering positive and issue-based politics. Addressing various national issues, he outlined the PPP’s stance on economic challenges, security concerns, and the political climate in Pakistan.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Chairman Bilawal articulated the party’s dedication to combating divisive and negative political trends through democratic means, reflecting the desires of the populace. He highlighted the current economic difficulties, including escalating inflation, poverty, and unemployment, stressing the urgent need for politicians to address these issues earnestly. The PPP leader also commented on the critical security situation in Pakistan, crediting the armed forces and police for their sacrifices but noting recent policy missteps that have allowed terrorism to resurge.
Chairman Bilawal announced the party’s participation in an upcoming All Parties Conference (APC) to discuss a counteroffensive against terrorism, indicating the PPP’s role in shaping consensus on national security and economic policies. He also reflected on his tenure as Foreign Minister, discussing diplomatic engagements with Afghanistan and China aimed at addressing mutual concerns and fostering regional economic prosperity.
Addressing questions on accountability and governance, Bilawal asserted that the PPP has consistently pushed for transparency and accountability, particularly concerning terrorism. He criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s alleged connections with terror organizations, stressing the importance of the APC as a platform for all political parties to present their positions on various issues.
In response to economic policy queries, the PPP chairman criticized the regressive taxation system and advocated for fairer economic policies that do not disproportionately burden the poor. He underscored the PPP’s focus on public-private partnerships and sustainable energy initiatives in Sindh’s budget to tackle the energy crisis and support the impoverished.
