Europe Sub Regional Qualifier B Commences in Germany for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

Karachi: The road to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 continues as the Europe Sub Regional Qualifier B begins in Germany. This tournament marks the next phase of qualification following Italy’s victory in the Sub Regional Qualifier A last month. Ten European teams, including hosts Germany, arrived in Duisburg aiming to secure a spot in next year’s Europe Qualifier.

According to International Cricket Council, the participating teams—Belgium, Croatia, Gibraltar, Jersey, Norway, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, and Germany—will compete over eight days across two venues: the Krefeld Cricket Ground and the Gelsenkirchen Cricket Ground. The tournament format consists of an initial group stage with two groups of five teams each, followed by playoff matches on Sunday, July 14. The top two teams will compete in a final, with the winner advancing to the next round of qualification.

Andrew Wright, ICC Europe Regional Development Manager, expressed enthusiasm for the event, highlighting the opportunity for Germany to host an ICC event of this magnitude for the first time. Wright commended the continued success of men’s international cricket in Europe and encouraged fans to watch the matches live on ICC.tv, with Indian fans able to follow the action on FanCode.

Dieter Voigt and Severin Weiss, Chief Executive and President of Deutscher Cricket Bund, respectively, welcomed the tournament, emphasizing the growing interest in cricket across Europe. They acknowledged the significant volunteer efforts required to organize the event and extended thanks to the ICC and sponsors for their support.

The Europe Sub Regional Qualifier B is part of a broader qualification pathway, with the winning team in Germany progressing to the Europe Qualifier. They will join Scotland, Netherlands, Italy, and the winner of Sub Regional Qualifier C later this summer. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will feature 20 teams, including 12 automatic qualifiers and eight teams advancing through regional pathways
