Zone-VI Secures Consecutive Championship in Karachi Cricket Tournament

Karachi: Zone-VI emerged as champions for the second consecutive year in the PCB Regional Inter District Senior (Karachi Region) Cricket Tournament. They clinched victory by defeating Zone-V with an innings and three runs before lunch on the final day of their fifth match at the UBL Sports Complex. Zone-VI has one match remaining in the tournament.

In the match held at UBL Sports Complex, Zone-VI posted a formidable first innings total of 310 runs. Zone-V, in response, scored 133 in their first innings. Following on, they were all out for 174 runs in 52 overs, leading to Zone-VI’s victory by an innings and three runs. Key performances included Muhammad Hassan Iqbal’s 76 runs featuring 12 boundaries, and the bowling prowess of Muhammad Maaz and Muhammad Makki, who took three wickets each, and Saifullah with a match total of 7/73.

Meanwhile, at Baqai Cricket Ground, Zone-IV triumphed over Zone-III by 38 runs, marking their second win in the tournament. Zone-IV scored 253 in their first innings and were all out for 205 runs in 73.2 overs in their second innings. Notable contributions included Yasir Mushtaq’s 39 runs and Arsalan Farzand’s 38 runs. Israr Ahmed Awan’s bowling was pivotal, claiming 12 wickets in the match.

Zone-III, in their innings, managed 217 and 207 all out in 73.2 overs. Ubais Ullah top-scored with 41 runs, while left-arm leg spinner Afnan Khan’s exceptional performance with figures of 6/79 in the second innings and 11/120 in the match was instrumental in Zone-IV’s victory.
