Karachi: In the latest round of the PCB Regional Inter District Senior (Karachi Region) tournament, Zone-VI and Zone-III emerged victorious in their respective matches against Zone-II and Zone-VII. Both winning teams secured nine points each, highlighting their dominant performances.
At the KCCA Stadium, Zone-VI decisively defeated Zone-II by ten wickets. Zone-II, batting first, was all out for 204 runs in their first innings, with Tariq Bakht contributing 95 runs. In response, Zone-VI declared their innings at 330 for 8, thanks to an unbeaten 128 by Muhammad Usman. In their second innings, Zone-II managed 217 runs, but Zone-VI chased down the 42-run target without losing a wicket.
Meanwhile, at the UBL Sports Complex, Zone-III claimed a commanding victory over Zone-VII. Zone-VII was dismissed for 98 runs in their first innings, with Fahad Amin taking four wickets. Zone-III then posted a formidable 395 for 5, with Waqas Akbar scoring a standout 166. Zone-VII showed resilience in their second innings with 324 all out, but Zone-III easily chased down the target with a 31 for 1 finish.
The matches were highlighted by impressive centuries from players like Waqas Akbar, Muhammad Usman, Basit Ghouri, and Sabeeh Siddique, showcasing the talent within the regional teams. The tournament continues to provide a platform for local cricketers to display their skills and vie for recognition.
