Karachi: On the final day of the PCB Regional Inter District Senior (Karachi Region) cricket tournament, only one match saw completion as rain disrupted the other scheduled games. Zone V and Zone VII faced off at UBL Sports Complex, while matches between Zone I and Zone III at KCCA Stadium, and Zone II and Zone IV at Baqai Cricket Ground were washed out due to inclement weather.
Zone V resumed their first innings on the third day and were all out for 222 runs in 59 overs. Muhammad Hassan Iqbal contributed 55 runs with 10 fours, Shoaib Khan added 45 runs including five boundaries and a six, and overnight batsman Muhammad Ali Butt remained unbeaten with 53 runs, hitting seven fours and a six.
For Zone VII, slow left-arm spinner Fawad Khan took 4 wickets for 56 runs, while medium pacer Meeraj Uddin claimed 3 wickets for 35 runs. In response, Zone VII scored 244 for 4 in 64 overs. Muhammad Ijaz led the charge with an unbeaten 90, featuring 10 fours and 2 sixes. Qadir Khan and Ghani Subhan also made significant contributions with scores of 57 and 51 respectively. Huzaifa Munir added 25 runs to the total.
Muhammad Daniyal managed to take 2 wickets for 54 runs for Zone V. Zone VII secured 3 points from the match, gaining a first-innings lead. The tournament, organized by the Regional Cricket Association Karachi, faced setbacks due to the adverse weather, affecting the completion of several games.
