Karachi: Zone-III Whites secured a decisive six-wicket victory over Zone-V Whites, emerging as Group Champion of Group “D” in the Woodward Trophy Under-17 Inter Zonal Cricket Tournament at Landhi Gymkhana. Both teams progressed to the quarterfinals, with Zone-V Whites finishing second in the group.
According to Regional Cricket Association Karachi, the tournament is organized with the collaboration of Medicam Group of Companies. In the match, Zone-V Whites were bowled out for 110 runs in 34.4 overs, with Raheem Shah scoring 41 and Muhammad Khan contributing 30 runs. Anas Balouch’s impressive bowling figures of 4/20, along with M. Maaz Maqbool’s 2/16 and Nizam uddin’s 2/24, were instrumental in dismantling the opposition. Zone-III Whites chased down the target, scoring 112/4 in 33.2 overs, led by Muhammad Hamza’s 51 runs. The Medicam Man of the Match Award was presented to Anas Balouch.
In another match at Young Fighter Ground, Zone-I Blues defeated Zone-II Green by 112 runs. Zone-I Blues posted 229/5 in 40 overs, with notable performances from Muhammad Yaqoob (64), M. Usman Khan (59), and Owais Irfan (38). Zone-II Green was bowled out for 117 runs in 26.4 overs. Mudassir Khan’s 4/26 and Inshal Nawab’s 3/8 were key in Zone-I Blues’ victory. Mudassir Khan received the Medicam Man of the Match Award for his outstanding performance.
