Zone III and IV Dominate in PCB Senior Inter-District Cricket Matches

Karachi: In the recent PCB Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament in Karachi Region, Zone III and Zone IV emerged victorious in their respective matches. Zone III defeated Zone II with a significant lead of 116 runs, while Zone IV outplayed Zone I by a margin of 166 runs, showcasing a dominant performance in both matches.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the tournament’s fourth round saw Zone III and Zone IV making substantial scores against their opponents. Zone III, batting first at the RLCA Ground Gulberg, posted 208 runs in their first innings with notable contributions from Malik Zarar, who scored 70 runs, and Samiullah Afridi with 48 runs. Ali Shinwari was particularly effective with the ball, securing 6 wickets. In their second innings, Zone III declared at 331 for 6, highlighted by Habisullah’s unbeaten 118. Zone II, struggling to keep pace, were all out for 144 in their first innings and 279 in the second, despite efforts from Muhammad Sohail who scored 91 runs.

Zone IV’s performance was similarly impressive. Playing at the Landhi Gymkhana ground, they first scored 309 runs with Abdullah Fazal leading the way with 122 runs. In their second innings, they declared at 157 for 8, setting a challenging target for Zone I, which was bundled out for 139 in their first innings and 161 in their second. Afnan Khan of Zone IV was outstanding, capturing 10 wickets across both innings.

The victories for Zone III and IV in this round not only underline their dominance but also set a high standard for the remaining matches in the tournament.
