Karachi: On International Labour Day, President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the significant contributions and sacrifices of workers in Pakistan, emphasizing their role in national development. In his message, Zardari highlighted the historical struggle of laborers globally and reiterated his commitment to improving their empowerment, fair wages, safe working conditions, and social protection.

Zardari underscored the essential role of laborers and working classes as the driving force behind the country’s economic and infrastructural progress. He acknowledged their efforts in sustaining industries, agriculture, and various sectors, attributing national development to their hard work.

Addressing the challenges of a rapidly changing job market, Zardari stressed the importance of equipping workers and youth with modern skills. He called for collaboration among governments, private enterprises, educational institutions, and civil society to create a comprehensive ecosystem for skill development.

Furthermore, Zardari urged employers, trade unions, civil society, and the public sector to work towards a just labor ecosystem. He advocated for meaningful policies and inclusive development to honor workers, promoting a culture of respect for labor in all its forms.
