LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore, in conjunction with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, observed World Food Day at its City Campus. Prof Dr. Masood Rabbani emphasized the role of universities in translating research into practical solutions for building sustainable and resilient food systems. He highlighted that UVAS offers various professional degree programs related to poultry, fisheries, dairy, and nutrition, which contribute trained graduates to the livestock and allied sectors. James Okoth stressed the significance of innovation in enhancing food security and nutrition, advocating for stronger partnerships among government, academia, development partners, farmers, and youth.
