Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board has launched a comprehensive Skills and Fitness camp for the women’s national cricket team, set to run from August 8 to 24 at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. This initiative aims to prepare 25 selected cricketers for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in Bangladesh from October 3 to 20, 2024.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the camp will start with the players arriving on August 7, followed by a rigorous schedule focusing initially on fitness from August 8 to 18. The agenda includes medical screenings, various fitness assessments, and intensive fielding drills. The latter part of the camp, starting August 19, will shift to skills enhancement with net sessions under the guidance of the national coaching staff.
The camp features a diverse group of players, including nine batters, eight bowlers, six all-rounders, and two wicket-keepers, such as noted all-rounders Aliya Riaz and Nida Dar, and fast bowler Diana Baig. These sessions are designed to fine-tune the athletes’ skills and ensure peak physical condition as they head into the global tournament.
