The West Indies concluded the day at 239/5 at Queen's Park Oval, with Justin Greaves and captain Roston Chase remaining unbeaten on 64 and 36, respectively.

According to International Cricket Council, the duo's unbroken 66-run partnership provided stability after the hosts encountered challenges with the bat. King, who contributed a solid 46 runs, expressed confidence in his team's position. "We needed those partnerships at the end of the day, and it was good to see those guys making contributions," King remarked. He hopes Greaves and Chase can convert their starts into centuries.

Pakistan, meanwhile, made four changes to their lineup after a 90-run defeat in the first Test. Notably absent was pacer Mohammad Abbas, who had a significant impact in the series opener with eight wickets. Pakistan captain Babar Azam clarified at the toss that Abbas' exclusion was a strategic decision based on the conditions rather than injury concerns. Ubaid Shah, making his debut, managed to take one wicket but proved costly, conceding 56 runs in nine overs.
