Voter Registration in Ghotki Matches National Average at 54%

Ghotki: The voter registration rate in Ghotki has reached 54% of its estimated 2025 population, aligning with the national average, according to the latest statistics released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). These figures, derived from district-wise electoral roll statistics and cross-referenced against population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census, highlight the balance of migration patterns affecting voter registration in the district.

According to Free and Fair Election Network, Ghotki's estimated population for 2025 is 1,816,124, calculated from a base population of 1,772,609 using a 1.22% annual growth rate. The district currently has 976,539 registered voters, divided into 527,009 males (54.0%) and 449,530 females (46.0%). The registration rate is calculated by dividing the number of registered voters by this estimated population.

Ranked 57th out of 136 districts nationally by population size, Ghotki is represented by two Members of the National Assembly. The voter registration rate also places Ghotki 57th nationally and 6th among 30 districts within Sindh. The district's alignment with the national registration rate indicates that the effects of census enumeration, affected by migration patterns, are balanced.

The gender gap in voter registration remains a concern, with females constituting 46.0% of the registered electorate, reflecting a 7.9% gap. The ECP is encouraged to prioritize efforts to close this gap through targeted outreach before the next general elections.
