Voter Booth Assignments to Be Displayed Outside Polling Stations in Pakistan

Islamabad: In an effort to enhance transparency and reduce voter confusion during elections, a new requirement mandates the display of voter assignments outside polling stations in Pakistan. This initiative aims to prevent voter disenfranchisement by allowing individuals to verify their designated polling booths without entering the polling station.

According to Free and Fair Election Network: The recent amendment to the Elections Act 2017, specifically Section 79(2A), obliges the Presiding Officer to post a list outside the polling station on the day of polling. This list will provide the numbers of voters assigned to each polling booth, ensuring accessibility to voters before they enter the premises.

This amendment is a significant step towards improving the electoral process by addressing the potential confusion voters may face at large polling stations. It empowers voters to locate their designated booths with ease and ensures that any absence of such information can be immediately addressed with the polling staff.
