Virtual University Hosts Workshop on Tech-Enabled Research in Lahore

Lahore: Virtual University’s Professional Development Center, in collaboration with the ORIC Department, successfully hosted an online training workshop titled “Tech-Enabled Research: Driving Excellence Forward” at the IAC Davis Road campus on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. The event attracted over 60 attendees, who participated both in-person and online, reflecting a robust engagement with the theme of enhancing research capabilities through technology.

According to Virtual University of Pakistan, The workshop consisted of three sessions, each tailored to address different facets of tech-enabled research. Dr. Lubna Umar opened the workshop with a session on qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, providing participants with a deeper understanding of these foundational approaches to research.

Moazzam Ali Sahi led the second session, focusing on the skills necessary for professional article and thesis writing. He introduced LaTeX, a document preparation system, underscoring its importance in producing high-quality academic documents.

The final session, presented by Shanawar Rafique, centered on the Mandala Research Tool, a novel resource designed to aid researchers in organizing and visualizing data. This session highlighted innovative techniques for simplifying complex research data.

The workshop concluded with Dr. Faisal Tehseen Shah and Mr. Jawad Zaheer, Senior Manager of the Professional Development Center, presenting souvenirs to the guest speakers in recognition of their contributions. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the practical insights and hands-on training offered during the workshop.
