Thiruvananthapuram: Virat Kohli has once again inscribed his name in cricket's record books by becoming the fastest batter to reach 15,000 runs in Men's One Day Internationals (ODIs). This milestone was achieved during the first match against the West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram, where Kohli crossed the landmark with a boundary in the 29th over, delivered by Alzarri Joseph.

According to International Cricket Council, Kohli is now only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to surpass the 15,000-run mark in ODIs, reaching this feat in just 315 innings. Known for his precise technique and fitness, Kohli has consistently set records, previously being the fastest to reach 8,000 through 14,000 ODI runs. His career, highlighted by his ability to excel in difficult chases, earned him the moniker 'Chase Master'.

Kohli has participated in four ICC Men's Cricket World Cups, capturing a title in 2011. Notably, he emerged as the top run-scorer in the 2023 tournament with 765 runs, including three centuries and six half-centuries. During the semi-final against New Zealand, he also became the first to hit 50 ODI centuries. His overall World Cup record includes 1,795 runs in 37 matches, with an average of 59.83.

Having retired from Test and T20I formats, Kohli is focusing on the 2027 ODI World Cup, which he has confirmed will be his last. In an interview with JioStar, Kohli emphasized his motivation to win the World Cup for India. He expressed his ambition to continue contributing to India's victories, stating, "I've always been someone who, every game that we play, I want to be the guy who wins us the game." His dream remains to deliver a decisive performance in the World Cup finals.
