Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted the launch of "Jaag Railwaye Jaag," a book by veteran trade union leader Manzoor Razi, at Haseena Moin Hall. The ceremony was chaired by senior journalist and human rights advocate Hussain Naqi, with participation from prominent figures including Arts Council President Mohammad Ahmed Shah and senior journalist Mazhar Abbas, among others. Discussions highlighted the importance of reviving the trade union movement and connecting it with the youth for meaningful political change.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Hussain Naqi emphasized the need for labor movements to focus on future directions and reconnect with younger generations, citing recent political shifts in neighboring countries. Mohammad Ahmed Shah praised the book as a significant contribution to the people's history, criticizing historical narratives that overlook workers' struggles. Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan and Mazhar Abbas reflected on the relationship between strong trade unions and democratic movements, while discussing the challenges facing the labor movement today.

Nasir Mansoor called for reviving the traditions of the Pakistan Railway Workers Union and noted the absence of referendums in Pakistan Railways for decades. Rao Muhammad Naseem echoed the demand for removing the Ministry of Defence's control over Pakistan Railways to ensure workers' rights. Akhtar Hussain Advocate stressed the importance of unified democratic efforts in strengthening the labor movement.

Manzoor Razi expressed his intent to document the history of Pakistan's labor movement through his book, acknowledging the contributions of collaborators like Dr. Syed Jaffar Ahmed. He highlighted the historical role of student and labor organizations in political consciousness. The ceremony concluded with Dr. Syed Jaffar Ahmed announcing plans for a national conference on the trade union movement's future, to be organized under Hussain Naqi's patronage in the coming months.
