Lahore: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore concluded its weeklong Independence Celebrations with a vibrant ceremony at its City Campus on August 16, 2024. The event commemorated Pakistan’s independence with various cultural and academic contests that showcased the talents and patriotic spirit of the student body.
According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr. Muhammad Younus, who distributed certificates and shields to contest winners and organizers. Among the attendees were Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman, Senior Tutor Prof Dr. Yasin Tipu, along with numerous faculty members and students from diverse departments and societies such as the UVAS Debating Society, Qirtas, and the UVAS Literary Society.
During his address, Prof Dr. Muhammad Younus applauded the enthusiastic participation of students in the week’s events and paid homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s pivotal role in founding Pakistan. He also highlighted the contributions of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan to Pakistan’s defense capabilities and stressed the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by the nation’s forebears.
The week’s festivities included competitions in debate, calligraphy, poster making, essays, bait bazi (a form of poetic competition), quizzes, and patriotic songs, reflecting a deep engagement with the nation’s cultural heritage and the ongoing commitment of UVAS to fostering a vibrant community spirit.
Prof Dr. Yasin Tipu concluded the event with a vote of thanks, praising the efforts of all participants in making the celebration a resounding success.
