UPR Hosts Panel on Strategic Response to Indian Aggression

Rawalakot: A panel discussion hosted by the University of Poonch Rawalakot’s Department of International Relations explored Pakistan’s strategic and diplomatic responses to recent Indian actions in South Asia. The event, led by Dr. Uzma Munshi, featured insights from scholars and defense analysts on the strategic dimensions of Pakistan’s deterrence and diplomacy.

Dr. Uzma Munshi, leading the session, underscored the significance of academic discourse in shaping national narratives. The panel was attended by the Rawalakot Sector Commander, who highlighted the objectives of Operation Bunyanun Marsoos as a response to India’s actions across the Line of Control. He discussed the operation’s role in reinforcing Pakistan’s deterrence and addressing India’s militarized regional approach.

The commander commended the resilience of Poonch residents, particularly in border areas, and highlighted their historic role in the Kashmiri freedom movement. He stated that Pakistan’s forces had effectively countered Indian military assets, reinforcing Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Speakers included Prof. Dr. Qandeel Abbas, who analyzed India’s security doctrine and its implications for regional stability. He stressed the necessity of robust diplomatic engagement alongside military preparedness. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khan spoke on the revival of the Kashmir issue internationally and urged for policy coherence in regional diplomacy.

Col. (Retd.) Sardar Sheraz provided a strategic assessment of challenges along the LoC, emphasizing civil-military synergy in countering threats. Dr. Imran Hayat, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, appreciated the academic initiative, noting its importance for informed debate on national security.

In closing, Registrar Abdul Rauf Khan expressed gratitude to the armed forces and acknowledged the professionalism of military leadership during Operation Bunyanun Marsoos.
