UoS Vice Chancellor Calls for Workforce Development and Digital Transformation

SARGODHA: The Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat, emphasized the importance of ongoing professional development for university employees, highlighting the necessity of effective training and teamwork to meet the challenges of the modern era. He made these remarks at the opening of a two-day workshop on government rules and policies, organized by the university’s Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), targeting officers in BS-16 and BS-17.

According to University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Hayat outlined the institution's significant human resource potential, stressing the need to harness this through strategic training, collaboration, and a clear institutional direction. He noted the role of HRDC in preparing a workforce capable of making meaningful contributions at both national and international levels. Drawing on the example of the Higher Education Commission, he pointed to past efforts that successfully addressed a shortage of PhD faculty in the higher education sector.

Prof. Dr. Hayat also identified digitalization as a key priority, advocating for the adoption of modern financial and administrative practices, including double-entry accounting. He emphasized the importance of collective effort and commitment in achieving institutional goals, regardless of their scale.

HRDC Director Amjad Hussain Janjua reported that the center has organized over 40 training programs, encompassing more than 137 sessions, which have benefited hundreds of faculty and staff members. He announced plans to develop HRDC into a regional training hub and introduce human resource certification programs, alongside initiatives for digital transformation and preparing an AI-ready workforce.

The inaugural session included presentations on university ordinances and policies by Mr. Janjua and a detailed lecture on the rules and regulations of the Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority by Dr. Yasir Aleem, Principal of the College of Law. At the event's conclusion, Mr. Janjua presented a commemorative shield to Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat.
